Hi, I’m knbyo, short for 火焔描 [ka-en-byou]. No relation. Just call me Orin.

I’m an Australian 30-something salaryman, aspiring gender contrarian and part time bunny boy. I used to call myself Sleepmode, if you care about that sort of thing.

What are you into?

My interests can be separated into two broad genres: “video games” and “TV shows for children.”

For video games, I’ll let my interests carry me just about anywhere, but my main interests lie with fighting games, arcade games (particularly of the racing and shooting varieties) and real-time strategy games. “TV shows for children” generally encompasses anything that might be considered a cartoon or adjacent to it. I’m a very long-time fan of Kamen Rider, Super Sentai and other tokusatsu action shows, and I’m an enjoyer of shounen anime like Fullmetal Alchemist.

Current fascinations: Guilty Gear 2: Overture, Virtua Fighter 5 REVO, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, ATLYSS, Warframe, speedrunning Power Rangers: Super Legends

What’s this website for?

Because I often think way too hard about the aforementioned video games and TV shows for children, I like to engage in various forms of analysis, be it thematic, narrative or mechanical (depending on what I’m talking about). You’ll find that sort of thing both here and on my YouTube channel. Scripts for videos will usually go up here first as an article or essay.

I also sometimes stream on Twitch, but don’t expect a schedule of any sort.

Do you want money?

My stance on accepting money for the things I create is a simple one: financial contribution is not an obligation on your part, nor is it an expectation on mine. I accept donations over at my Ko-Fi, but they are just that: donations. There’s no way to gain exclusive access to anything that I make, and the best (and only) way to get a window into my creative process is to just ask nicely - there’s no transaction to be had here.

If I get any money from this, I want it to be voluntary, freely given and based on gratitude or appreciation. Your thought process should resemble something like this:
